Tea FAQs

What colors of tea are there?

The most common colors are black, green, and white. You can also find yellow tea, which is similar to green tea but brewed differently. You may have heard of red tea, but the leaves that make this drink are not from the same plant that makes tea leaves, so it isn’t a true tea.

Is it true that there are special ways to brew different colors of tea?

Yes. Most people just pour boiling water over the tea or tea bags, and this really isn’t the right way to do it. Especially if you are using loose leaves, you need to use the proper temperature of water. For most green teas, this is just under the boiling point. For white teas, the temperature should be even lower. This is because if the water is too hot, it will release the bitterness in the leaves.

Is tea as good for you as some people claim?

Tea is a great way to get a lot of the antioxidants that your body needs to remove toxins. Green and white tea have the greatest concentrations of these. There is also evidence that points toward green and white tea having cancer preventing and fighting qualities, along with the ability to help you lose weight. You can also gain more energy and stamina from drinking green tea.
